I still remember when the first COVID-19 case was reported in Thailand. My mom was so worried that she immediately went out and bought hand sanitizer for me. And the masks… I’ll never forget how ridiculous that was. A single box cost nearly $30 (around 1,000 THB)! Since we didn’t have much of a choice, most of us just stuck with fabric masks. Between the curfews and the shift to working from home, wearing a mask outside became our “new normal”-a habit many people here still keep today, even long after the peak of the pandemic.
For me, the pandemic hit hard in 2020. I was in my third year of college, facing online classes for the first time. We were supposed to be learning through Zoom and Microsoft Teams, but honestly? I was so bored that I ended up skipping classes altogether. I only ever showed my face during exams-just to make sure I’d actually graduate.
Instead of sitting in front of a screen, I started working as a delivery rider for GrabFood (the local equivalent of Uber Eats). At the time, the minimum pay was about 40 THB (around $1.22) per order. It was a grind, but I gained so much experience and learned every shortcut in my neighborhood even streets I never knew existed!
It was a fun experience in its own way. I rode my bike every day and earned a decent amount, especially during the Songkran holidays when I could make around 1,000 THB ($30) a day. I won’t lie, though-it was tedious work, spending the entire day under the scorching sun.
Looking back, I can’t believe it’s been six freaking years. It feels like only a year or two has passed; I’m not sure why, but it feels like COVID-19 just stole those years away. Now that it’s 2026, I want to understand this “time warp” better, so I’m going to do some research and post what I find soon.
What about you guys? How did you adapt to the Covid 19? What did you do during that time? Share in the comments, I’d love to read them

I agree! I can’t believe it’s already been six years. I still work from home, but working from home and a hybrid setup have become common since the pandemic, which helps commuters and those struggling with the current gas prices.
I hope you’re doing well! My sister was in college when the pandemic hit, and it was a difficult time for her.

Thanks for the comment! I’m doing fine, thanks!
It’s hard to believe right? 6 years feel like yesterday. Back then I was just a college kid who did not care about anything. Time flies. I wish I could go back, life was so fun and simple.
